Jack Lord Lulus Cum Laude, Tapi Jadi PNS Tukang Pel

Pekanbaru – Untung tak dapat diraih, malang tak dapat ditolak. Pepatah Melayu ini yang dirasakan Jack Lord, PNS (Pegawai Negeri Sipil) di Lembaga Penjamin Mutu Pendidikan (LPMP) Riau. Dia lulus dengan status cum laude di Universitas Riau (Unri), namun kini tugasnya mengepel ruangan.
Jack, begitulah panggilan akrab pria bertubuh kecil kelahiran Tanjung Pinang, 30 tahun silam. LPMP Riau tempatnya bekerja, ada di bawah naungan Dirjen Peningkatan Mutu Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan (PMPTK) Kementerian Pendidikan Nasional. Jack adalah PNS golongan III A, yang berkantor di Jl Gajah, Kecamatan Tenyanan Raya, Pekanbaru.
Pria lajang ini, tidak gengsi walau selaku sarjana dia diberikan tugas sebagai tukang sapu dan pel di tempat kerjanya. LPMP Riau, memiliki banyak ruangan diklat, untuk pelatihan para guru atau para calon PNS. Kantornya, berdiri di atas lahan 3,6 hektar dengan puluhan ruangan. Di sanalah Jack harus bertugas menyapu ruangan dan mengepel.
“Saya tidak pernah mengeluh soal kerjaan ini. Tapi ketika saya dinyatakan menjadi golongan III A, masak iya pemerintah menugaskan tukang pel lantai harus sarjana,” kata Jack saat ditemui detikcom, Selasa (27/04/2010) di Pekanbaru.
Jack yang bekerja pada bagian umum, setiap hari harus berangkat kerja lebih awal dibanding PNS lainnya yang ada di LPMP Riau. Usai salat subuh, dari rumahnya di Jl Genteng, Kecamatan Tampan, Pekanbaru, sarjana Cum Laude dengan nilai IPK 3,75 itu harus buru-buru ke tempat kerja.
“Sebelum PNS pada masuk, saya dan teman-teman PNS yang bertugas sebagai tukang sapu, harus lebih dulu sampai dan bekerja. Setelah seluruh ruangan kami bersihkan bersama, barulah PNS lainnya tiba. Padahal idealnya, PNS masuk kerja pukul setengah delapan pagi,” kata Jack anak kedua dari dua bersaudara itu.
Bila melihat kondisi kerja Jack dibandingkan PNS di jajaran Pemprov Riau, maka hal ini sangat berbanding terbalik. Di jajaran Pemprov Riau, ataupun instansi pegawai negeri pusat lainnya, tidak ada lagi pekerja pel lantai dan membersihkan parit berstatus PNS. Sebab, pekerjaan umum seperti itu, biasanya dikontrakkan dengan pihak swasta.
“Di tempat saya ini, ada 12 PNS golongan II A yang bekerja sebagai cleaning service. Malah tidak hanya saya yang sarjana, ada teman satu lagi juga sarjana hukum tugasnya sama seperti saya,” kata alumni Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Politik (Fisipol) tahun 2003 itu.

This Malay proverb is felt by Jack Lord, PNS (Pegawai Negeri Sipil/Government employee) at Lembaga Penjamin Mutu Pendidikan/Institute of Quality Assurance Education (LPMP) in Riau. He graduated with cum laude status from Riau University (Unri); but now his task is to mop rooms.
Jack, that’s the nickname of that small man who was born in Tanjung Pinang 30 years ago. LPMP Riau where he works, is under the auspices of Director General of Peningkatan Mutu Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan/Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (PMPTK) The Ministry of National Education. Jack is a government employee class III A, based in Jalan Gajah, Tenyanan Raya District, Pekanbaru.
This single male, do not mind even as a Bachelor degree graduate, he is given task as mopper at where he works. LPMP Riau, has many training rooms, for teachers and government employee candidates’ training. His office, stands above 3.6 hectare land with dozens of rooms. That is where Jack must sweep and mop the floors.
“I never complain about my work. But, when I was declared to be class III A government employee, does government really assign a mopper has to be a Bachelor degree graduate,” said Jack when met by detikcom, Tuesday (27/04/2010) in Pekanbaru.
Jack who works in general affair, everyday must go to work earlier than other government employees at LPMP Riau. After morning prayer, from his house in Jalan Genteng, Tampan District, Pekanbaru, that Bachelor degree graduate with GPA of 3.75 must quickly rush to his workplace.
“Before other government employees came to work, I and other government employee moppers, had to arrive earlier and work. After we had cleaned all the rooms, then other government employees arrived. Ideally, government employees comes to work by 7:30am in the morning,” said Jack, the second from two brothers.
If looking at Jack’s working condition compared to other government employees in provincial ranks Riau, then it is very contrary. In Riau provincial ranks, or the rest of central civil service agencies, there is no more government employee who mops the floor and cleans the trenches. Because, such general work, is usually outsourced to the private parties.
“Where I work, there are 12 class II A government employees who work as cleaners. I am not the only one with Bachelor degree. There is another friend with Bachelor of Laws who work as I do,” said that 2003 alumnus of Political Science Faculty.
